Two-Year Milestones
I'm trying to record for posterity where Mason is with his development-- it all seems so unforgettable now, but my memory is terrible... So this is more for my sake than for your reading pleasure...
The things he LOVES to do...
SING AND DANCE! Requests, "moe singing, mommy", loves "Singing in the Rain especially where the dancing girls jump out of a cake and do their routine
Sings "twinkle, twinkle", "Jesus Loves me", "ABC's", "Rock-a-Bye Baby", E-i-e-i-o (old Macdonald)
Loves "Mu-gik" (Music) Class
Loves the Wiggles and Elmo
Knows what he likes (Moe!) and doesn't like (No dis!)
Runs
Loves riding his fire truck and pink tricycle that Pappy found in the neighbor's trash
Jumps
Climbs, especially up on a stool, or his drum, to see in the kitchen or on the toilet in the bathroom
Climbs stairs without much help
Jumps off of almost anything we let him
Knows more words than I can count, recognizes most words, constantly asks, "dis, mommy?" (as in, what's this?)
Language is exploding; talks in 3-4 word sentences most of the time
Loves bath time
Loves to be tackled, tickled, tossed, thrown onto pillows
Gets excited to drink out of a "big boy cup"
Has decided he will never ever sit in the high chair again
Wants to "drive" whenever we get in the car
Learning to draw circles; can identify circles, squares, hearts, triangles
Usually can correctly identify most colors
Can count to 12, sometimes to 14
Would live outside or at the park if he could
Working on his bedtime delay tactics but overall a good sleeper; still in his crib and always needs 2 pacis to go to sleep!
Loves to yell, "Mommy, Poo-Poo!" when we're in public and he's just made a 2 while hiding behind a display.
Things he hates to do...
Ride in the car
Brush his teeth
Have his diaper changed (not too interested in the potty chair)
Eat dinner
Come in from outside
Take a nap
Be told "no"
His personality
Can be very sweet; loves to pray for "Baby, A'ca" (our baby in Africa) at dinner time
Loves to be around lots of people and noise and craziness, although he gets quiet and observes at first
Knows what he wants! And will tell you!
Is often impatient and demanding, especially in the car
Can be very polite (starting to say thank you and please without being prompted)
Responds well to time-outs, says he's sorry
Favorite foods
(He's terribly picky but sometimes we can get these foods in him... more often wants to be fed; "Mommy do it")
smoothies!
Rah-Ro's (eggs), especially with ketchup
avocados; usually eats half at a sitting
butter! would eat it straight out of the tub if we let him!
yogurt ("yo-gurk")
the free cookies at Publix! (because they have "balls"-- the little sprinkles)
blueberries, strawberries
Hummus and chips (hum-meese!)
parmesean cheese
water
"ronis" and cheese
"gettis"
cheese of any kind
soy milk
noodles with butter
french fries
chicken nuggets
pretzels
apples
grapes
bananas
oranges
pears
graham cracker "cookies"
Books he loves...

Anything Dr. Seuss
"God Loves Me"
Any book that makes music or loud obnoxious noises
"Baby Danced the Polka"
