keeping track

We hit a major milestone this past weekend... Levi went to Base Camp; that is, we dropped him off at the children's program at Summit. he did great, and when we went to pick him up he was happily sitting in his little seat eating crackers. He had a little happy-seizure, like a little puppy wagging its tail, when he saw us through the window to pick him up. No tears. Halleluah! It was so nice to sit in "big-people church" with Joe again. Ahhh...

So in honor of this momentous occasion, I thought I'd record some of the boys' development.

LEVI

*"mamamama, yeah, gagagaga, dadadada"
*definately knows NO; "nyuh" with head shaking (first English word, not surprisingly!!!)
*can shake his head "yes" although this is rare without prompting... "no" is so much more fun
*takes 3-4 steps only to a person, doesn't venture out alone
*stands for a few seconds at a time; he'll try this one alone
*sleeps from 7 pm to 6 am (did I mention in my sleep diatribe that 6am does not count as morning? 6am is an evil almost-morning-wannabe)
*two naps, only sleep for 30-40 minutes on his own, for naps I need to be beside the crib as he falls asleep but can be put down for bedtime after his bottle, woo-hoo!
*loves music, balls, any toy that "goes" and makes loud noises
*loves chicken, beans and rice. I think he's really Mexican
*not a huge banana fan. Again, proof that maybe he's not really Ethiopian.
*babbles in LONG sentences very LOUDLY... we're working on volume control, but are also very interested to learn what these sermons are about

MASON

*sings, all the time, either songs or commentary on what he's doing
*makes hilarious faces and expressions, especially to try to get us to forget he's misbehaving or refusing to eat dinner (we're on to him)
*very shy about being the center of attention or embarrassed in front of large groups BUT loves to have attention and make new friends
*loves play-doh, drawing
*can draw straight lines and circles like a champ, once drew a perfect M, will sometimes draw triangles
*loves his new tricycle but not actually interested in pedaling
*loves to go to "Pugwix" to get a cookie "wif spwinkles"

JOE
*is a champion diaper changer
*can put Levi to bed much easier than I can and so is often very helpful with bedtime
*can wash a dish faster than Flash Gordon
*has spent more time painting in the last month than McCain has spent talking trash... doh!
*loves cookies from Publix, too
