update from an e-mail
I e-mailed a friend, then thought this might be good to share over the WWW... why not, right?
"Things are getting better, although they were definitely rough at first. I didn't realize how hard the language barrier would be... with a 1-year-old you expect to be able to communicate enough to set boundaries, reassure them out of stranger and separation anxiety, etc. And Levi likes to throw his little tantrums when he's unhappy, although usually they are relatively short.
BTW, we're renaming him :) Right after we met him we decided he wasn't a Jeremiah, but also felt like we wanted to "name and claim" him, along with give him a name that is easily pronounceable. Levi means "joined in harmony", and I like short, easy names. My mom says now we have a Mason jar and Levi jeans:) "
Mason is doing better, though still would not win and gentleness awards... his idea of affection is to run up, roar like a lion right in Levi's face, squeeze Levi's cheeks into a fish face, laugh really loud, and then run away. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Levi kind of flinches when Mason comes close a lot of times, although he's also starting to enjoy some of the madness, and today they were just chasing each other around giggling and hug-tackling. Sigh. No tea-parties here.
