Waiting...resting...bonding...and praying
We have had some low key days and have submitted all of our paperwork to Embassy. We anticipate getting our visa and coming home next week so pray for that!
Today we were invited to attend a birthday celebration for one of the women who work in the kitchen here at the guesthouse. It was beautiful; they all sang and did the cake and then they made her sit in the middle so everyone could go around and say something encouraging or give a blessing. I totally cried ;) In America we think we have it so good but we also undervalue the sense of community and support that other cultures enjoy.
Joe and I are visiting a few more ministries and an orphanage in the next few days and making some neat connections between Americans and Ethiopians here who are passionate about empowering women. There are so many people who want to help but don't know how. Pray that we see with God's eyes whatever He has for us.
Thankfully Marta does great in the car and the Ergo so it'll be nice to get out together.
She is a sleeping champ; we put her down every night then we can hang out, chat, shower, and she sleeps through it all until morning.
We can tell that she is sad and grieving. She has been at the care centers so long it's all she knows and I am sure that she misses her "sisters" and her nannies. Thankfully she loves to be held and is content in the carrier and that seems to provide her comfort. Every morning when she wakes up she just stands and stares at me with the tiniest furrowed brow, as if she's thinking, "Seriously? These people again?" Pray for her little heart; she has a lot to get used to.
Joe and I are doing well, reading and playing lots of cards when we aren't playing with Tess, and it's a peaceful respite but we do miss our crazy boys. FaceTime has been a lifesaver so that I can see and hear them every night. It helps my mama heart not to feel so far away.
We are all healthy so far so that is another huge praise report :)

Visiting our friends Jenelle and her new son Mo at their guest house...
